Origis Energy Secures $530 Million Financing to Advance US Solar Projects

US renewable energy company Origis Energy has announced a $530 million financing agreement with MUFG (Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group) to support the construction of two major solar projects in Indiana and Mississippi. The financing will advance clean energy projects totaling 350 megawatts (MW) of installed capacity.

In Knox County, Indiana, the 150 MWac Wheatland Solar Project is expected to be completed in the first half of 2026. The project holds a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with CenterPoint Energy. Origis Energy CEO Vikas Anand stated: "We are pleased to achieve this financing milestone with partners like MUFG. This project will effectively meet growing local electricity demand."

The financing package also covers the Optimist Solar + Storage Project in Clay County, Mississippi. This hybrid facility integrates 200 MWac of solar generation with a 50 MW / 4-hour duration battery energy storage system, scheduled to commence operations in early 2026. Secured by a PPA with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the project will further expand Origis' energy footprint in Mississippi.

Patrick Klein, Managing Director of MUFG Americas Project Finance team, commented: "We are honored to participate in these projects, which will not only deliver clean power but also create jobs and stimulate regional economic growth." The banking consortium includes United Bank, CoBank, and multiple other financial institutions.

Origis Energy will serve as the developer, owner, and operator for both projects. This follows the company's recent completion of $415 million financing for Texas' Swift Air Solar Project, further expanding its influence in the US renewable energy market.
